KERRIE KELLY

Kerrie Kelly, Owner of Kerrie Kelly Design Lab, is an accomplished interior designer, author, instructor and multi-media consultant. She currently keeps many projects going simultaneously including residential and commercial interiors while promoting her two books and multi-media project, Home Décor: A Sunset Design Guide, published by Oxmoor House and My Interior Design Kit, with Pearson Professional and Career Education.

Kerrie’s start in interior design came from early family influences that allowed her to pursue her studies at Cal Poly – San Luis Obispo, California. Upon graduation she worked at the Nordstrom and Macy’s visual merchandising their products. She then moved on to Ralph Lauren, being the primary representative for their home collection in Northern California for over five-years. Simultaneously, she launched her own design firm, All American Design and Furnishings, Inc.

From there, Kerrie became the innovative design studio manager and director of merchandising at Del Webb’s Sun City Lincoln Hills active adult community, where she oversaw model home merchandising and interior design upgrades to over 7000 homes. Her experience with Del Webb and Certified Aging in Place Specialist designation has helped her gain the expertise to be the current Chair of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) Council on Design for Aging and on the Advisory Board for Livable Design by Eskaton. While at Del Webb, she earned her Masters in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and became a certified interior designer.

When Kerrie left Del Webb to focus her attention on her design firm full-time, she turned a weekly column in the Sacramento Bee into chapters for a book that would become Home Décor. She has since appeared on several TV news shows in Northern California as a featured designer and has consulted with the DIY and HGTV Network’s “House Crasher’s”, “Bath Crashers” and “Room Crashers” shows.

Kerrie has also launched the first limited edition pieces in her reclaimed wood product line, Eco Chic by Kerrie Kelly. Her first dining and coffee tables are made from beautiful reclaimed teak with environmentally friendly finishes. A total of twelve pieces have been designed to date.

Kerrie’s philanthropic involvement includes the renovation of Lake Tahoe’s Thunderbird Lodge Cottages and Mercy San Juan’s Infusion Unit, volunteering for ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition in New Orleans, North State Building Industry events, and International Interior Design Association activities. She also has created a Construction Management student scholarship at her alma mater, Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo and an Interior Design scholarship for the Art Institute at California.

Her second book and multi-media project, My Interior Design Kit, will launch in colleges across the country in early 2012. She is a sought after speaker on interior design and enjoys holding her master class series at her California design studio.
